Creator Spotlight – Amanda Quartey

Amanda Q, a London-based illustrator bringing vibrant, heartfelt stories to life through her art. With colourful, bold style and roots in both the UK and Ghana, Amanda has illustrated some amazing children books.

Born and raised in the UK with Ghanaian heritage, Amanda’s passion for drawing began early, leading her to study Art and Graphic design in college. She later pursued classics at university, but her love for illustration drew her back to the arts and since 2016, she has been building a diverse portfolio and professional clientele.

Her illustration style is stylised and colourful, encompassing both line and line-less art making it well-suited for editorial and children’s book illustrations.

Amanda’s work captures powerful emotions, big dreams, and important moments in history, all with a unique, dynamic touch.

Small’s big Dream by Manjeet Mann – Amanda’s debut picture book, which was shortlisted for the UKLA Book Awards 2023 and won the Diverse Book Awards Readers’ Choice.

Whirly Twirly Me by Manjeet Mann – A sensitive and reassuring picture book on understanding and handling big feelings, featuring Amanda’s beautiful artwork.
